LBS and OZS ILLEGAL from: Jan 2000 (UK) | From the 1st of January 2000, UK goes METRIC. No more LBS and OZS. It will be illegal to sell any item using the old British system. For those who do not comply, there is a £2,000 fine for each offence committed. Trading around the world, I must agree with this move. It makes more sense to keep things simple, rather than having one system for 'in-house' and another for trading abroad. Small traders are finding it very hard to acquire the cash needed to purchase new metric scales, which can cost around £3,000 here in the UK. It may be possible to get these items more cheaply over-seas, although we have not been advised if that is so. Anyone who can supply information relating to cheaper purchases abroad, please e-mail us with the details, so we can do our 'bit' to help others.
