Software 'Adware'.
Banners within pages are fine, but are pop up Advert windows wanted?

You can get rid of them. Read further.

Advertisers can always put banners on pages via LINK systems offered all over the world. It's a good way of getting noticed (hopefully some will 'click' on them to see what they offer and order), and they harm no one and keep 'good will'. This is the way everyone who uses the Internet/www get cheap products, services and, Yes, free online time.
But these POP-UP browser windows are invasive and can cause people to actually dislike companies, even though they know nothing about them. Now that's not good sence.

Do you have the right to say what is or is not displayed, and what is installed on your system? Yes, of course. Do you have the right to demand that it is completely removed if you do not want it. Well, Yes, just like shopping in the high street. If I do not want something, I do not have it!

Companies displaying 'Banners' on pages are all 'well and good', but bashing you with 'long loading' and 'time/system eating' pop-up browser windows is another.
That said, POP-UPs are some idiots idea of getting the message across. Well NOT so! It's so annoying that the people we have spoken to, actually 'HATE them' and would do anything to be 'rid' of them, rather than keep closing the window each and every time, that's if it loads correctly in the first place! which includes 'tiny' ones.

So....

Have you downloaded a game or a bit of 'kit' that you wanted to have a look at, only to find that its called 'Adware'. You know, the Pop up windows that suddenly appear while you are browsing the net, informing you on one thing or another. You had to take a look at the software didn't you, so you installed it, Right?
No? So you think the Adware software was not installed? Not so. Some still bang the stuff on you system. Now that's wrong! If they still stick stuff on your system when you have forbidden them to do so, by refusing to install it, then you should complain.

Did you remove the programs from your computer, hopeing that that stuff was also removed? Yes? Well NO, actually. Some software uninstallation systems still leave the stuff on your system, cluttering up your hard drive, registry and so on. Who knows if they suddenly will be activated without your knowledge. Some games companies actually give, by an additional download, a special 'uninstaller' to stop their POP-UPS from operating. Yep that works, some still remain, sitting there. Don't believe me? I think you do!

How do I check and get rid of them?
There are two programs I can think of. The best and TOTALLY FREE is SPYBOT. The other which has most parts freeis LAVASOFT . Pop over and get them both. These AD_WARE utilities, will scan your system and show you what is actually suspected as Adaware, Spyware and so on. You can View the reports and save it, and even go on to the selection to remove section. Be-Aware, you should Backup your registry and the programs/folders that are listed before removing anything. If you make a mistake, you could end up having to reinstall things.
They are great bits of kit and should serve you well. Their internal lists are updated, listing other companies that use this type of unwanted advertising.
There is also a FREE 'type and search' utility which can be downloaded as a seperate unit. Another useful bit of 'kit'
